Orthodontic Treatment Isn’t A One-And-Done Process

January 24, 2023

Creating a healthy, radiant smile is a subtle process that unfolds over a time period that’s different for each person. Whether you’ve come to our orthodontist at Omaha Office for traditional metal braces, their ceramic cousins, or even invisible aligners, the progress of your treatment needs to be periodically assessed so we can determine whether any adjustments need to be made.

Coming in for follow-up visits to our office is the best way to ensure that your treatment will be completed in the shortest possible time. This gives us the opportunity to assess the movement of your teeth into their desired locations, and to determine if we need to make adjustments to tighten the braces, or to potentially provide a new aligner tray to optimize results.

Skipping appointments with our orthodontist has the potential of not only lengthening the treatment time, but also could mean we won’t be able to make sure you’re properly brushing and flossing, which can be tricky with braces. We’ll check to see if the wires and brackets are doing their job, and to look for a buildup of plaque from tiny bits of food that can get trapped and go unnoticed.

Rest assured, there’s no reason for concern that an adjustment to your braces or aligners will be painful. Any discomfort will be mild and will disappear within a few days. The side effect of failing to come in for an adjustment — ineffective treatment — will cause more discomfort in the long run.

With state-of-the-art technology and materials at our disposal, our orthodontist at Omaha Office aims to deliver a customized plan designed to make our treatment quick and effective. There’s simply no reason to delay orthodontic treatment, or to skip appointments that will make the path to the beautiful smile you’ve always desired as brief as possible. Please don’t hesitate to contact our office today for information or an appointment.
